Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library invites the public to fun and informational programs on the second Thursday of each month. These programs are designed for adults and older students and are free of charge. They feature general interest, natural history, popular culture, and seasonal topics.
February 12, 2004 Kathleen Hudson, Professor of English at Schreiner University
Her presentation, "On Writing and Inspiration", will include the process of writing and the writer's sources of creativity. In addition she will present insights into her forthcoming book that talks about voices of women in Texas music.
March 11, 2004 Don Graham, editor of LONESTAR LITERATURE: FROM THE RED RIVER TO THE RIO GRANDE
Don Graham is J. Frank Dobie Regents Professor of English at the University of Texas at Austin. Graham has rounded up a comprehensive collection of writings that provides an overview of the diversity and excellence of Texas literature, from early accounts of life on the wild frontier to contemporary fiction.
April 8, 2004 Jay Brandon, author of the recent legal thriller, SLIVER MOON
Brandon is the author of twelve critically acclaimed novels. He is a practicing attorney in family and criminal law in San Antonio. Each of his novels takes aspects of people, places and happenings in the world of law, and adds his own brand of gripping suspense.
May 13, 2004 Douglas V. Meed, author of SOLDIER OF FORTUNE: Adventuring in Latin America and
Mexico with Emil Lewis Holmdahl
Meed has served as a reporter and editor for numerous newspapers. This book explores the flamboyant times along the Texas-Mexican border during the Mexican Revolution.
