Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library Presents
SUMMER READING PROGRAM
¡Acción, espionaje, aventuras...en la biblioteca!
JUNE 9 - AUGUST 31, 2003
Reader Registration
Registration for the Summer Reading Club at Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library begins June 9 and continues through August 31 during regular Library hours. Every child registered receives a bookmark and a reading log to record the time spent reading. Reading or listening to someone read for at least six hours earns a Texas Reading Certificate signed by the Governor and the State Librarian. Thirty hours of reading earns additional gifts from the Library. Register in the children’s area of the Library. Return your reading record to the Library by July 21 and receive your awards at the party on July 23. Readers returning records after July 21 should pick up awards at the Reference Desk.
There are no age limits, we will happily enroll readers from birth to 100 (or older) years old. Children who do not yet read independently may qualify by having someone read to them and keep track of their reading time. Families are encouraged to read together and to have times when stories are read aloud. Children who already know how to read may enjoy reading to younger brothers, sisters, relatives, or friends. Need help choosing a book? Reference Librarians have recommended reading lists and will be happy to help you choose a book.
Daycare and other groups should call the Library about group registration.
Programs will be presented every Wednesday morning from June 18 through July 23. For safety reasons, the Fire Marshal limits the meeting room audience to 100 persons. The programs are for individual families, and not for daycare or other groups, due to the audience size limitations. Children do not need to register for the Wednesday programs, but should plan on arriving in time for the announced starting times and before the room is full to allowed capacity.
The Summer Reading Program is an annual event funded by the Friends of the Library of the Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library.
